PROJECT
(25%)
Marks Distribution:
Reports and all documentation materials
(10 %).
Systems Analysis & Design include
user Interface Design (10 %).
Presentation (5 %).
INSTRUCTION:
1.
You
may choose any system that you already discussed in your group.
2.
A
full system analysis & design has to be designed by the
end of the semester.
The project
is divided into TWO
sections:
1) Section ONE : UNDERSTANDING ON CURRENT SYSTEMS
(AS-IS)
Students must
be able to apply INFORMATION
GATHERING TECHNIQUES (ex:
interviews, observation, questionnaires, document analysis etc.) in order to
understand the current information system. You are required to produce a GANTT CHART, Organizational structure,
context diagram, level-0 logical data flow diagram (or more levels), interview’s report,
questionnaires report. To conclude
the findings you must produce a PROBLEM
DEFINITION REPORT (PDR) OR ALSO CALLED the
Systems Proposal/requirement definition
document which compiles all
materials required for the current system.
2) Section TWO : UNDERSTANDING THE NEW SYSTEM (TO-BE)
In this
section, students must be able to propose some improvements (ex: business automation,
business improvement, etc) on the current system by producing the blueprint of the
new system. For this purpose, students are required to apply DATA FLOW DIAGRAM(DFD) techniques when introducing the new
features of the proposed system. Based on NEW CAPTURED REQUIREMENTS, students should be able to propose a CONTEXT DIAGRAM for the TO_BE system
and be able to convert logical DFD of current systems to the logical DFDs of NEW system
with completed partitioning. Besides, students are also required to design INPUT and OUTPUT DESIGN (example Screen, form etc) of the proposed
system. Similar to section ONE, all materials such as designs and
findings should be compiled and reported in what we called as the DESIGN SPECIFICATION REPORT (DSR).
